Karpleles, Gustav

(1848-1909)

   German literary historian. He was born in Einwanowitz, Moravia. He edited the Allgemeine Zeitung des Judentums in Berlin from 1890 and also played an important role in establishing and running the Association of Societies for Jewish History and Literature. He wrote various literary studies including a history of Jewish literature.
